Description
The "ION-25" unit is used for nitriding and carbonitriding of machine building parts, various tools, tooling made of steels and alloys in pulsed glow discharge in order to increase their surface hardness and wear resistance. The principle of heating of installations: excitation of anomalous electric glow discharge in a rarefied gas medium with high current density. Gas dissociation occurs in the chamber due to the high voltage between the cathode (parts) and the anode (chamber walls). Electrons tend to the anode, gas ions tend to the surface of the cathode, as a result of interaction of positively charged gas ions and metal parts of the cathode there is heating of the surface on which the plasma burns. When reaching a certain temperature of the cathode (parts) on the surface are formed nitrides (carbonitrides) of iron and alloying elements, then there is diffusion saturation and the formation of hardened layer inside the surface of the metal part.
