A set of devices designed to bring medical gases from a fresh gas source within an inhalation anaesthesia machine/workstation to the patient, usually providing communication between the patient, ventilator/bag, carbon dioxide (CO2) absorber and monitor. It typically includes both an inhalation and exhalation channel; consists of breathing tubes, breathing bag and/or reservoir(s), Y-tube, connectors/adapters, and gas sampling ports. An absorber, one-way directional valve and adjustable pressure limiting valve (APL) are also typically involved in the circuit but may or may not be included.
