Solar Water Heater with Copper Absorber Tubes for Sustainable Heating

The construction is based on a tubular copper absorber system. Here each copper tube is inserted into a cylindrical glass vessel sealed at the ends and has its own insulation. The insulating material is vacuum. Vacuum does not conduct heat, so it completely eliminates convection and conduction losses and thus minimises the collector's thermal losses. This allows for a high and stable collector efficiency even with weak diffuse solar radiation on a cloudy day, as well as at sub-zero temperatures. Therefore, vacuum solar collectors produce on average 30-40 per cent more thermal energy during the year compared to other types of collectors.
